Rotrender Was Defeated Once. Can Gentebra Do It Again?
Gentebra faced Rotrender again, but the boss survived the attempt. That is particularly interesting when you remember who killed him first.

The First Kill
Rotrender was introduced in February 2025, with the first invasion taking place on February 21, 2025, on Unebra.
It took more than three months before anyone managed to defeat him.
On June 7, 2025, Gentebra became the first world to kill Rotrender. Bona followed the very next day, using the strategy developed by Gentebra’s team.

At the time, teams discovered that Rotrender’s healing could effectively be controlled by managing his position on the Rift tiles.
That turned out to be the key to the first successful kills.
It also turned out to be a strategy with a surprisingly short expiration date.
CipSoft Changed the Fight
Just ten days after Gentebra’s first kill, CipSoft changed Rotrender.
On June 17, 2025, the boss’s healing mechanic was changed. Rotrender began healing on Pulsating Rifts, and it was no longer possible to prevent the healing simply by keeping him on Pulsating or Volatile Rifts.

The strategy behind the first kill was therefore no longer enough.
Gentebra’s world-first victory remained a world-first victory, but the trick that made it possible had already been changed.
Considering Bona had used the same strategy just one day after Gentebra, the timing was rather unfortunate for anyone hoping to keep the original method around for long.
Rotrender Changed Again
That was not the last change.
On February 4, 2026, CipSoft introduced another set of changes to Rotrender’s fight.
The boss would now heal only when stepping onto a specific tile, with a message displayed when the mechanic activates. CipSoft also reduced the total amount of self-healing during the first phase.

So the Rotrender waiting for Gentebra in September 2026 has gone through several mechanical changes since the first kill.
It may still have the same name, but the fight has certainly had a few updates since Gentebra first figured it out.
The Fight Is a Teamwork Check
Rotrender is not simply a matter of bringing enough high-level characters and dealing enough damage.
His initial form, Rotrender Hexed Horror, is immune to damage.
Players have to repeatedly create Storms from the Rifts and detonate them close to the boss. If no Storm explodes near Rotrender for approximately eight seconds, he returns to his immune form.
That means the team has to keep the Storm rotation going while also managing the boss’s position, Energy and the rest of the fight.
The current strategy documentation describes several different Rift mechanics that have to be handled together. A mistake in one part of the rotation can quickly turn a promising attempt into a very expensive visit to the temple.
And then there is the final phase.
15% HP Is Where Things Get Worse
At approximately 15% HP, Rotrender transforms into Rotrender Scourge of Azzilon.
The final form introduces Fear, higher resistance and additional damage.
Current strategy documentation also records the possibility of Rotrender recovering up to 600,000 HP under certain conditions, although some details of the mechanic are still under investigation.
So getting Rotrender down to the final phase does not necessarily mean the difficult part is over.
Quite the opposite.
The team still has to keep the mechanics under control while dealing with a boss that has considerably less interest in dying than everyone else in the room.
Gentebra Tried Again
On September 27, 2026, Gentebra faced Rotrender again.
The attempt was streamed and ended without a kill.
What makes it particularly notable is the experience involved. The attempt included players associated with Veyllor, who was part of the Gentebra team responsible for the first Rotrender kill.
This is not a case of a completely inexperienced team walking into the boss room and discovering that Rotrender hurts.
Gentebra has already solved this boss once.
It just solved a different version of him.

Is the Current Rotrender Too Strong?
We do not know yet.
One failed attempt is not enough to establish that the current version of Rotrender is impossible to kill. It is also difficult to compare the 2025 victory directly with the 2026 attempt because the boss mechanics have changed since the first kill.
The current Rotrender documentation still lists parts of the fight as being under investigation.
That leaves several possibilities.
Perhaps the current strategy still needs refinement. Perhaps one of the mechanics is being handled differently from the way it was during the original kill. Or perhaps teams simply have not found the most reliable way to deal with the current version yet.
There is also a slightly amusing possibility.
Maybe Gentebra really does need to figure out how to kill Rotrender all over again.
One Kill, Two Versions of Rotrender
Gentebra’s first Rotrender kill remains an important part of the boss’s history.
But the September attempt shows how quickly a successful strategy can become outdated when the boss itself keeps changing.
In June 2025, Gentebra found a way to defeat Rotrender.
In September 2026, that experience was not enough to reproduce the result.
The boss mechanics changed. The strategy changed with them.
For now, Gentebra remains the world that scored the first Rotrender kill, while the current version of the boss has survived another attempt.
Whether Gentebra eventually finds a new way to bring him down, or another world gets there first, will depend on how well players manage to solve the mechanics of the Rotrender currently waiting in Azzilon.
For now, the first kill still belongs to Gentebra.
The rematch does not.
